Modern Day World Wars

If you haven't heard the most recent news about Down syndrome in Iceland, Denmark, and China more recently, I'll link some articles here:

The issue of aborting children with Down syndrome is not a debate of pro-life or pro-choice. Unborn babies diagnosed with Down syndrome are being targeted by uninformed people listening to stereotypes presented by general society.

In China, 21% of babies with Down syndrome are aborted after 28 weeks - that is 70% of the way through the pregnancy.

These countries are not the only ones targeting babies with Down syndrome. In the US 90% of the babies diagnosed with Down syndrome are aborted. France banned a promotional video of people with Down syndrome out of fear of creating a feeling of guilt in moms who chose to abort their child with Down syndrome.

Dear Future Mom

I know it is usually frowned upon to talk about Hitler and his tactics, but let's talk about what happened. Hitler imagined a "perfect" race. He had an idea of what he wanted it to look like and rationalized it with stretched truths and hyperbole. His path to get there was to, guess what, kill the people that did not fit into what he saw as "perfect." We remember all the horrible things that the Jewish race went through, but what about the people that weren't Jewish? I would like to remind everyone that Jewish people were not the only ones killed during Hitler's reign. Hitler targeted people with disabilities. We called it genocide - the deliberate killing of a large group of a common people. The deliberate killing of all babies with Down syndrome. The modern day war on genocide. Whether people are aware or not, there is a war going on. A world war. There are people all over the world speaking up for people with Down syndrome; our voices are just too small to be heard through computer screens and YouTube videos.

People are saying that they are eradicating Down syndrome all over the world. I thought diseases got eradicated? I watched a video of a girl in high school point out what is really happening to Down syndrome. Down syndrome is not being eradicated; people are just killing everyone being born with it.

Pro-Life Teen Responds to Report on Down Syndrome in Iceland

I can't understand how we live in a world where everyone wants to accept everyone, but we are still facing issues of struggling to accept children that have disabilities like Down syndrome. Politicians like Hillary Clinton had slogans like building bridges and her continuous stance of standing arms open wide, but she consistently supported the abortion of children with disabilities. She would even put down Mike Pence, our current Vice President for ruling that abortion due to Down syndrome to be illegal in the state of Indiana. She had hundreds of thousands of real life followers, and according to Twitter she has 17.9 million online followers.

We have to get the conversation out there more. There are campaigns and hashtags and social media pushes everywhere fighting for Down syndrome. We have t-shirts and pictures and voices. We need to be heard. There are children being murdered and targeted just for being themselves. This is an issue of genocide, not of pro-life/pro-choice.

These babies that are being killed grow up into amazing people. The last baby born with Down syndrome in Iceland is 5 years old - Iceland has gone 5 years with out a baby being born with Down syndrome. It's not because there isn't Down syndrome; it's because all the babies that are being diagnosed with it are being aborted (just so you know Iceland, that's not considered "eradicating" - that's genocide).

It breaks my heart that there are people in the world that will never know the true joy and love of having a relationship with someone with Down syndrome. They will never see their love for music and dancing. They will never know the amazing things that will be accomplished while completely shattering all stereotypes. They will live in stereotypes their entire lives, and they won't even know it. Our societies have formed these little bubbles for people with disabilities to live in, so they don't have to be bothered with the hassle of love and happiness. For awhile, I was happy to live in that bubble with my family and my friends, but when I stepped into the world, I can't help but want to change it.

I have seen some really special people pop their little bubbles and step into the real world with me, and they not only shatter societies' expectations but also mine. These amazing people are accomplishing things that I will never even accomplish.

I have consistently dreamed about walking out in public with my family and not given a second look because my brother has Down syndrome. That is my Aryan race. Complete and true acceptance.
